Glunz Family Winery & Cellars

The commitment to making the best wine is evident in their passion and an unshakable work ethic

Several wineries, especially on the Central Coast, are touted to be “family owned and operated,” but Glunz Family Winery is uniquely profound and genuine. Located accessibly off of 46 East, the historic, yet modern, barn encases what some might consider a family museum. Ample parking is provided just in front of a flagstone courtyard shaded outdoor seating. A pathway, through trellised lilacs, leads to the tasting room which is just beyond the boutique-sized winery. The tasting room is bright and open and decorated discerningly with Glunz family artifacts. Stephen and Matthew Glunz are fourth generation wine industry professionals. Their great-grandfather Louis Glunz immigrated from Germany to Chicago in 1879. There, he opened a shop as a wine and beer merchant and during prohibition, Louis made sacramental wines, and medicinal products.
The Glunz estate is planted to Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel, Primitivo and Petit Verdot. In addition the Glunz brothers source fruit from famed vineyards, such as Whitehawk in Santa Barbara, Paper Street Vineyard in the Paso Robles Willow Creek District, and the incomparable Dante Dusi Vineyard.
