Russian immigrants from Sevastopol on the Black Sea brought Gravenstein apples to the US in the 1800s and planted them around what became California’s Sebastopol. Fittingly, Gold Ridge Organic Farms, a local and organic farm, celebrates the 2024 harvest season with a sit-down apple tasting at their Sebastopol farm. An apple expert guide leads guests through tasting four of the 75+ heirloom varieties grown onsite, chosen based on which apples are at their peak. The apples are served with local cheeses, apple cider syrup, and balsamic vinegar, all locally sourced and organic.
