Notre Vue is French for ‘our view,’ and what a view this is. Overlooking the Russian River Valley, the vineyards sit between two premium AVAs, the Russian River Valley and Chalk Hill. The tasting area overlooks 700 acres of pristine land, which includes not only 350 acres of “forever wild nature preserve” protected spaces but several hundred acres of estate grapes. Within this special terroir are extensive micro-climates, valleys, flats, and slopes. Notre Vue grows 16 grape varietals, producing an eclectic selection of ultra-premium wines. Grapes include Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and most Bordeaux varietals plus Sangiovese and Dolcetto.

Notre Vue is committed to creating not only exceptional wines but doing so in a responsible manner that utilizes the gifts of nature while protecting and promoting a healthy ecosystem. As is evidenced by their “forever wild” donation to the Sonoma County Open Space Trust, Notre Vue also farms organically and was certified sustainable in 2014. Winemaker Alex Holman believes in minimal intervention and as he describes it, a “light-handed approach” to bring out the true characteristic aromas and flavors of the grapes and terroir. Talking to Alex, he says: “My style is smooth wine,” and indeed it is! Smooth, elegant, layered, with a complexity of flavors that constantly teases and enthralls the palate.

Having the benefit of being located in two esteemed AVAs, whether sipping a Russian River Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, or Muscat, or a Chalk Hill Cabernet Franc, GSM, Zinfandel, or Petite Sirah, you are assured of wine that (as winemakers like to say), reflect the “place.” These limited-production, highly-regarded wines are only available through the estate and may be found in a few selected restaurants. As we were sipping the Chalk Hill Rosé of GSM, overlooking the valley, Alex remarked: “This is one of those why we live here days.” And, indeed it was. With the expansive view of vineyards and wild spaces in front of us, sipping on simply “yummy” wines, Notre Vue’s mantra of Our View---Our Life---Our Wine simply becomes embedded in your soul.
