Sparkling Wine, Tours, Views

and Exhibits – All at Mumm

October is one of the most beautiful times in the Wine Country as the fall colors begin to emerge in the vineyards.  Few other locations offer the quiet scenic panoramas of the Napa Valley as the unique visitor center at Mumm Napa.
Considered America’s premier sparkling wine producer, Mumm  Napa offers one of the finest tasting experiences in the Napa Valley. A winery noted for its friendly staff and outstanding sparkling wines, it also offers its guests some of the most spectacular views of the Napa Valley wine country. Additionally, the winery hosts outstanding displays of fine art photography showcasing established masters along with talented new photographers.
Mumm  Napa opens its doors at 10 a.m. and guests may choose to immediately embark on their fascinating tour covering the intricate process of producing sparkling wine. Guides use brief video presentations during their cellar tour to show the action of harvest, bottling, riddling, disgorging and labeling. In just forty-five minutes, you become an expert in champagne method sparkling wine production. Complimentary tours leave hourly from 10 to 3 p.m. and reservations are not required.
As part of its ongoing commitment to fine art photography, Mumm Napa’s “Private Collection” Gallery  features 27 original photographs by the legendary landscape photographer Ansel Adams. The photographs are on loan to Mumm Napa from Matthew Adams, grandson of Ansel Adams. The collection of images includes some of the photographer’s greatest works, including: Moonrise – Hernandez, New Mexico; Monolith, the face of Yosemite’s Half Dome; and Winter Sunrise, a view of the Sierra Mountains, taken near the town of Lone Pine.
Mumm Napa’s main gallery is currently featuring “The Ansel Adams – John Muir Trail” exhibit showcasing over 100 dramatic landscape photographs taken along the trail.  Focusing on California’s scenic John Muir Trail, the exhibit includes close to 30 rare and vintage Ansel Adams originals  as well as dozens of works from other noted landscape photographers such as Galen Rowell, William Neill, Charles Cramer and Alan Ross.  The Ansel Adams – John Muir Trail exhibit runs through March 11, 2007.
For nearly twenty-five years, Mumm Napa sparkling wines have earned international acclaim as premier Napa Valley méthode champenoise sparkling wines, which emphasize the natural ripeness and exceptional quality of Napa Valley vineyards. Winemaker, Ludovic Dervin carries on the inspiration that began with the late Guy Devaux in making Mumm Napa wines, bringing the ripe character of Napa fruit to the forefront while maintaining the classic balance and structure necessary in an outstanding sparkling wine.  The award-winning Napa Valley sparkling wines produced in the méthode champenoise include Brut Prestige, Blanc de Noirs, Blanc de Blancs, the new Cuvée M, and the award winning DVX.
Mumm Napa is located at 8445 Silverado Trail in Rutherford. For more information, call (707) 967-7700 or go to the website: mummnapa.com.
