Louis M. Martini Winery Opens Its Cellar Doors

Louis M. Martini, one of the founding wineries in Napa County, recently launched a new winery tour that gives visitors a look into their rich history and ongoing commitment to making first class wines. The focus of the tour in not only on winemaking practices, but also on the family’s legendary history in the area as well as the vineyards that have become legendary themselves.
The tour kicks off in the Martini Tasting Room where guests are greeted with a glass of Cabernet Rosé and seated in the cozy Founders Room to learn a little bit about the Martini family’s history, their emphasize on red wines, and their premium vineyard – the infamous Monte Rosso Vineyard in the mountains of Sonoma Valley.
The highlight of the tour comes when guests are guided downstairs into the old underground cellar. This seventy year old wine cellar, full of barrels and nostalgic aromas, houses a rich history. Guests will learn about its uses, both historically and today. They will also receive a taste of Martini’s 125-year-old-vine Zinfandel – the Gnarly Vine Zinfandel, paired with delicious hors d’oeuvres.

The tour is capped off by a flight tasting in the Founders Room where guests will be guided through a study of Cabernet Sauvignons with a focus on special winemaking techniques used, fruit sources, and unique characteristics of these wines. Wines typically featured include the Napa Valley Cabernet, Monte Rosso Vineyard Cabernet, and the new and exclusive Lot 1 Cabernet. Tour participants receive a special 10% discount on current vintage wine and merchandise on the day of their tour. All tours are offered daily by reservation and are limited to guests 21 years of age and older. The price is $30 per person. Please call the Louis M. Martini Winery tasting room at (707) 968-3361 for reservations.
The Martini tasting room is open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. for wine tasting and purchases. Several different wine flight options are offered, allowing visitors to craft their experience to their own taste. Flight offerings include the “Cabernet Appelations” and “Italian Heritage” options. The Martini Park, a beautifully shaded area behind the tasting room, is also available for visitors’ use. Guests are invited to bring their picnic lunch and enjoy the tranquility of the park with a bottle of Martini wine.
