The Gallo Family Launches its New Label
With the transition from Gallo of Sonoma to the new Gallo Family Vineyards label, the Gallo family has created a single line of wines that will carry their family guarantee of quality on everyday wines as well as the select wines from Sonoma County.
In addition to the name change, you’ll notice a new look to the wine labels. The new look is lithe and elegant, the main feature being a grove of redwood trees. These trees are central to the Gallo family’s philosophy to “never stop growing”. This philosophy supports their passion for wine, bringing three generations of experience and an undiminished zeal for continuous improvement to bear on Gallo Family Vineyards.
The newly labeled wines can all be found at the Gallo Family Vineyards tasting room in Healdsburg where both complimentary and flight tastings are available daily. Guests have the opportunity to taste many of the small lot wines from Sonoma County, including the Single Vineyard, Estate, and Winemaker’s Signature Series wines. Many of these wines are “tasting room exclusive” wines – gems that are made in extremely small quantities and showcase the spectacular growing regions in Sonoma County.
The tasting room has put together several different kinds of unusual tastings for you that are educational as well as just plain delicious. Most of these unique wines are arranged in “flights,” a series of tastings in which all the wines share some common theme. For instance, you can taste Cabernets from different vineyards to see the effect of soil and climate on the wine’s texture and flavor, or you can taste different vintages of the same variety from the same vineyard to learn the effect that the weather of a specific growing season has on the character of the wine.
The staff will be happy to pack wine for you to ship home (where legal), and you can also join the Gallo Family Vineyards Wine Club and receive regular, automatic shipments of wine six times a year, many of them exclusive to club members. There is no fee to join, and you will receive a 20% discount on all current vintages.
Visitors to the Sonoma County are also invited to “walk the land, touch the vines, and taste the wine.” The Gallo family now offers guided tours of their breathtaking Barrelli Creek Vineyard in Alexander Valley. As part of this hands-on vineyard experience, guests are treated to an educational look at winegrowing while tasting terroir-based wines amongst the vineyards. The Gallo Family Vineyards tasting room is located on the plaza in beautiful downtown Healdsburg. Hours are 10 a.m. to 6.p.m daily.
