Wine Adventures – Destination: Sterling Vineyards

Memorial Day Weekend Cellar Sale – May 28-30

Sterling Vineyards is celebrating Memorial Day weekend with a Super Cellar Sale. A wonderful collection of older vintages, big bottles, and special case discounts will be offered. Incredible values on Single Vineyard and Reserve bottlings. The sale will run Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

Even from a distance, you can tell: Sterling Vineyards is a magical place to visit. Its dramatic site and distinctive architecture are immediately eye-catching. For more than 35 years, Sterling Vineyards has been a landmark for locals and a beacon for wine-loving visitors.
Sterling Vineyards sits atop a 300-foot forested knoll in the northernmost part of the Napa Valley, just south of the historic spa town of Calistoga, renowned for its natural hot springs and spouting geyser.
On a visit to Sterling Vineyards, one quickly understands how the beauty of the Napa County Agricultural Preserve has gained such tremendous international recognition. You can enjoy the fun of wine tasting in what feels like the middle of a national park.
The winery’s architecture is unmistakable, reminiscent of the white hillside towns of Mykonos, Greece. There is an English influence as well: Sterling’s famous bells, which chime every quarter hour, once graced St. Dunstan’s Cathedral in London. The church was destroyed during World War II, but the bells ring on at Sterling, brought there by the winery’s English founder.
One of the very special features of a visit to Sterling is your arrival – via a serene aerial tram ride. The winery was designed with the visitor in mind, incorporating galleries and overlooks that allow guests to view the whole process. Displays along the tourway thoroughly explain each aspect of the winemaking process. And best of all, you can go on Sterling’s tour at your own pace and take in the information of interest: no giant groups, no tight schedules, just a relaxing, pleasurable experience.
On screens throughout the tourway, a winemaker’s video tour presents activities you may not see in person such as harvest, fermentation, blending, aging and bottling. The tour concludes with a wine tasting with sit-down table service. The Sterling staff is known for their gracious hospitality and extensive wine knowledge, and will happily answer any additional questions.
Sterling Vineyards has three different tasting rooms offering one of the best selections of wines in Napa Valley: Pinot Gris, Pinot Gris Rosé, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Viognier, Malvasia Bianca, Muscat Canelli, Pinot Noir, Zinfandel, Sangiovese, Syrah, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.
Plan an adventure and experience what The New York Times observed: Sterling Vineyards is “one of the most spectacular wineries in Napa Valley…”
Sterling Vineyards is open daily from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. For more information, call 1-800-726-6136, or go to the website at www.sterlingvineyards.com.
