Celebrate the Past and the Present with Gloria Ferrer

In 1982 the Ferrer family, proprietors of the world’s largest producer of sparkling wine, Freixenet S.A., purchased 250 acres of land in Sonoma’s Carneros wine district where they planted vineyards with the traditional sparkling wine grapes of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. In 1986 their state-of-the-art winery, with Spanish-style architecture and breath taking Vista Terrace, which overlooks the estate vineyards and the rolling Carneros hills opened to the public. The winery is named after the owner’s beloved wife.
The winery now cultivates 385 acres in Carneros and produces a range of sparkling and still wines. With the expansion of the estate vineyard holdings, Merlot and Syrah have been planted where their affinity with the land is clear. A visit to the winery will reveal the Old World influences of arches, red-tile rooftops, tapestries and antiques. A tour of the facility with it state-of-the-art, man-made caves will unlock the secrets of the classic méthode champenoise process.
Gloria Ferrer is dedicated to the production of wines that reflect the artistry of the winemaker and the marriage of vine to place in the vineyard. Gloria Ferrer’s still wines complement the sparkling wines that will always remain the first love of the Ferrer family.
The classic sparkling wines of Gloria Ferrer include Sonoma Brut (NV), Blanc de Noirs (NV), Blanc de Blancs (Vintage), Royal Cuvée (Vintage), Brut Rosé (NV), and Carneros Cuvée (Vintage). In 1991 Gloria Ferrer started producing a limited amount of Carneros Chardonnay and Pinot Noir made entirely from the estate grapes, as well as a Carneros Merlot and Carneros Syrah. With the introduction of the José S. Ferrer Reserve Chardonnay and Pinot Noir as well as the vineyard-designated and estate-grown Gravel Knob and Rust Rock Terrace Pinot Noirs, Gloria Ferrer can now truly lay claim to producing both world-class sparkling and table wines.
