New Culinary Tasting
Experience in the Napa Valley
Known for its award-winning line of Made In Napa Valley gourmet pantry products sold in specialty and gourmet markets, Tulocay & Co. has just opened the Made In Napa Valley Culinary Centre – a new tasting experience for the food and wine lover. The newly opened Centre is conveniently located at the gateway to the Napa Valley making it the ideal starting point for a culinary adventure.
TASTE
Upon entering the Culinary Centre, visitors will have many options. In the tasting café one can choose from a delectable
menu, featuring seasonal dishes made with the Tulocay & Co. brands of gourmet pantry products. Chef Rayna Bockholt and her culinary team’s inspiration comes from the company’s artisan approach to creating food products, as well as seasonal local products and the healthy, sumptuous life style found in the Napa Valley. While the menu offers unique daily specials, the signature dishes that are menu mainstays have rapidly become favorites for the frequent café visitors. The Curry Chicken Salad gets a creative twist with the addition of the Made In Napa Valley Curry Simmer Sauce and can be served in a wrap or on a butter lettuce leaf. Pulled Pork Sliders on Green Onion Biscuits are so popular that they have inspired a fun gift basket that includes just about everything needed to make them at home except the pork! Recipes are freely available – no need to write Gourmet Magazine to track down a recipe here.
“We often get requests from our customers asking for recipes and entertaining ideas using our products,” notes Karen Foley, Senior VP of Sales & Retail Operations. “The Culinary Centre is our ‘edible brochure’ providing the opportunity for visitors to experience firsthand recipes and creative entertaining ideas using our products, and participate in cooking classes for the ultimate Napa Valley tasting experience.”
Wine is of course a part of the experience with a fun and casual approach to the featured selections. The wines fall into categories that range from “light and lively”, to “richer and fuller”; and “fun and fruity” to “bold and beautiful.” Small producers and unique wines are offered by the glass as well as the bottle, and will change frequently to highlight the seasonality of the food and the introduction of new wineries.
SHOPPE
The tasting experience continues in the Retail Shoppe, featuring Tulocay’s Made In Napa Valley, Vineyard Pantry and Kingslake & Crane food products and an assortment of kitchen and tabletop merchandise that will excite and inspire with creative collections and displays. “If you have ever wished that you could try a food product before you bought it, this is the place to do just that,” states Andrea Zanow, Culinary Centre General Manager, “we have set up tasting stations throughout the Shoppe.” Unique products and ingredients were sourced specifically for the Shoppe. Artisan teas, tea-infused chocolate bars and truffles, uniquely shaped pastas from Italy, whole grains such as black quinoa, Middle Eastern couscous, lotus rice and French lentils represent just a few of the pantry highlights. New products will be introduced here before going into distribution across the country, offering an “insider” opportunity to be one of the first to sample and purchase those products.
COOK
Beginning July 19th, an exciting curriculum of cooking classes will be offered. Visitors can take a fun and informative class in the kitchen classroom and learn easy gourmet “short cuts” as well as favorite recipes and tips so that they can enjoy the flavors of the Napa Valley in their own homes.
Or one can create a private event that might include: an al fresco party in the outdoor piazza, a team building cooking class, a holiday party or an interactive tasting from the pizza oven, grill or rotisserie. Our culinary team also offers catering for events, boxed meals for picnicking or delicious items to take on the go.
