Congratulations to Kevin Corley and his winegrowing team and to Chris Corley and his winemaking team at Monticello Vineyards for their recent accolades. Wine Spectator’s James Laube rated their Vintage 2002 Monticello Vineyards Tietjen Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 90 Points – outstanding! On October 19, 2005 Wine Spectator Insider published the following: “Aromas of dusty berry, cherry and cranberry turn rich and complex on the palate, with hints of fresh earth, tar, herb and coffee. Those flavors gain velocity and depth on the finish, picking up a rich brown sugar-like edge. Drink now through 2011.” A vision of growing world-class winemaking grapes inspired a journey for the family and the creation of one of Napa Valley’s crown jewel wineries has been a passion for the Corley family. Kevin, Chris, Carolyn and Stephen are responsible for the winery now but it is their father, Jay Corley, who purchased and then planted the original 80 acre estate in 1970. The family’s passionate pursuit of excellence in winemaking yields rich, ripe, concentrated full bodied wines that are both elegant and luscious. Vintage 2002 Monticello Vineyards Tietjen Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, Rutherford, Napa Valley is available for $45. As always, they encourage you to shop at your local fine wine shop, but for certain wines it is highly likely that you will only find them directly from the winery. Contact them via phone at (707) 253-2802 or fax (707) 253-1019, email them at Wine@CorleyFamilyNapaValley.com or visit their website www.CorleyFamilyNapaValley.com. The winery is located at 4242 Big Ranch Road between Silverado Trail and Highway 29 just south of Oak Knoll Ave. between the towns of Napa and Yountville. The winery is located less than a mile from either Silverado Trail or Highway 29 but is a thousand miles from their hustle and bustle. The tasting room is open from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily and tours are by appointment.
