Woodbridge Winery Spices Things Up October 22
Again this year, Woodbridge Winery is holding the 3rd Annual Woodbridge Chili Cook-Off and Car Show on Saturday, October 22nd. In addition to judging the best chili, the judges will choose the wines that go best with chili. “It’s almost like a chili and wine taste- off,” says Larry Pilmaier, Visitor Center Manager for Woodbridge Winery. He says that they’re out to prove that wine can complement, or even enhance, just about any dish. The event will feature at least 15 cooks and their teams, all trying to impress a panel of distinguished judges who will conduct a blind tasting. The 1st prize winner will receive $250 and a trophy. Second place will receive $50 and a trophy. Winner of the People’s Choice Award will garner a gorgeous three-liter engraved bottle of Woodbridge Select Vineyard Series Merlot. Judges will also choose a “Best Booth.” That winner will receive a plaque. The event is free and open to the public. If you’re adventurous, and you’d like to do a little tasting of your own, Woodbridge Winery will offer Tasting Kits that contain a ballot so you can vote for your favorite People’s Choice chili. The kit will be available for $2. In addition, again this year, The Woodbridge Visitors Center will be hosting the area’s most prestigious Car Show, featuring vintage cars from all over California and from all eras. There’s also a one-day wine sale, with vintages and varietals at unheard of low prices. So, come join us – the cooking gets underway at 9:30 in the morning, People’s Choice tasting begins at 1 p.m. in the afternoon, and judging and trophy awards are at 2 p.m. The Woodbridge Visitor Center is located at 5950 East Woodbridge Road in Acampo – the heart of the Lodi Appellation.
