Our 'We Love Moms And Veterans' Show: A Family-Friendly Event!
Entertaining! Fun! Inspiring! Nostalgic!
This special one time only variety show has 25 professional entertainers donating their time and talent for you, travelling from SF and Marin.
Our family friendly show includes live music, dance, comedy, magic and poetry.
The featured performers are living legends of Chinatown's Golden Age. The Grant Avenue Follies organized fifteen years ago from former burlesque dancers from SF nightclubs, most notably The Forbidden City. This group now includes physical therapists, retired educators, real estate folks and a retired architect.
The Follies are dancing well to stay young, and hope to inspire you.
They are multi-award winners who have performed in Vegas, Chicago, Seattle, Houston and most recently, Cuba. They have helped raise $ 3 million for seniors and underserved children, working with other non-profits!
Emcee Jan Yanehiro pioneered the magazine format and co-hosted "Evening Magazine" on KPIX-TV. The mother of six, she's won an Emmy and a Humanitarian award, hosted six documentaries on the issues of Japanese Americans during WWII, and is a well read published author.
Our other emcee, Doris Grover, had a day named for her in SF by Mayor Willie Brown, April 21st, 2001. She is a retired designer and currently the Director of Community Affairs for The Hilton SF Financial.
