Madrone Estate Winery
Daily 10am - 4:30pm
Madrone Estate Winery is a true Sonoma Valley icon with a rich history of quality winemaking spanning over 150 years. The most cherished part of the 40 acres of vineyards is made up of Ancient Vine Zinfandel, some of which are believed to be over 120 years old. Madrone offers guests a portfolio of small-lot, estate-grown, single-vineyard wines from Sonoma County.
Visitors can choose to taste wines at the beautiful tasting bar, enjoy a seated tasting in the elegant new tasting lounge which features food and wine pairings, or on the patio with incredible views of the Sonoma countryside. For guests wishing to bring a lunch there is a designated picnic area and creek-side bocce court. Reservations are recommended.
Established in 1863, Madrone Estate Winery is the oldest operating winery in Glen Ellen. An original stone barrel cellar, sunny patios, bocce court and open vistas welcome you to an incomparable wine country setting in the heart of Sonoma Valley. Small-lot wines express their place of origin and reveal elegance, intensity, and rich, full character. Whether you are enjoying yourself at the tasting bar, the elegant lounge, or relaxing on the spacious patio amidst 100-year-old vines, you are invited to experience the rich, rooted history here.
The wine portfolio spans from refreshing whites such as Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc to bold reds such as Estate Old Vine Zinfandel, Estate Petite Sirah and Cabernet Sauvignon. Old-world varietals are also available, such as Sangiovese and Estate Barbera, which reflect the Italian heritage of Sonoma Valley.
At Madrone Estate Winery, wine, food and friends belong at the table together. Its culinary offerings unite all three. Enjoy any tasting with a delicious cheese and charcuterie board, or delight in a Wine & Cheese Pairing of four cheeses paired with four wines. Indulge in a flight of five wines paired with specially selected chocolates to make for a unique wine tasting experience. Beginning spring 2017, Flights & Bites will showcase a flight of white wines, red wines or Zinfandels paired with unique small bites. Summer brings fresh wood-fired flatbreads paired with a glass of Madrone wine to enjoy on the sunny patio. The Reserve Tasting features reserve and estate wines in varietal-specific Riedel stemware and is accompanied with a cheese and charcuterie board. For guests wishing to bring a lunch, take a seat at a picnic table under an olive tree or you can order a gourmet box lunch (48 hours advance purchase required). And, don’t forget the complimentary creek-side bocce court for some friendly competition!
