Turnbull Wine Cellars is a fabulous winery just off Highway 29 in Oakville, in the famed Napa Valley AVA. When it comes to great wine, the secret is to start with the best fruit. A key component of quality, Turnbull fruit captures the unique character of each of their four estate vineyards.

The diversity of sourcing fruit from these four carefully farmed ranches allows Winemaker Peter Heitz to create wines with distinctive flavors that capture the personality of each site and growing season.

Experience Turnbull’s world-class photography collection while you enjoy Turnbull wines in the Reserve Tasting Room and Art Gallery.

This cavernous room holds oak wine barrels – floor to vaulted ceiling – and the label’s signature collection of privately owned fine art photography. Guests may sample five estate grown wines in their Estate Tasting Room. Or, guests visiting the Reserve Room will sample a selection of Turnbull’s Estate Grown, Single Vineyard reserve wines such as Cabernet Franc, Merlot and three Cabernet Sauvignons which demonstrate the characteristic effects of each vineyard’s terroir on the wine it produces.

The winery itself is special, too. Famous American architect and founder William Turnbull designed many other wineries in Napa during the 1970s. However, when he set out to design this signature winery, his vision was to create a winery where the aesthetics implied that every drop of wine was precious. Today, Turnbull Cellars continues to honor the original design and intention of the property.

Fun Fact
The Turnbull name dates back to the early 1300s when a Game Keeper of Robert the Bruce saved the king’s life by turning away a ferocious bull that had threatened to gore the king. The grateful king knighted his subject “Turnbull” and awarded him a crest featuring a bull’s head twisted back that has adorned the Turnbull wines since its founding in 1979.
