Tayson Pierce Estate Wines![]() Enjoy 10% off your full case purchase when you mention “Day Trips” on your visit
One of the most exclusive wineries in Napa is Tayson Pierce and with their wine on Robert Parker’s What Every Wine Cellar Should Have in Stock list, this is one tasting experience that should be on your “Hot List.”
Founded by Susan and Eric Rothchild, the name Tayson Pierce originates from the combined names of their three children; Taylor, Grayson and Pierce. Eric is a third generation winemaker and the first to bring his family’s European winemaking traditions to the states. Eric wishes to use his family’s experience to delicately craft the highest quality Napa Valley wine for others to enjoy.
This micro-winery is focused on producing single vineyard artisan wines and as such only 200 cases of each varietal are crafted each year. By concentrating solely on Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon, they are able to highlight each grape’s unique vineyard driven characteristics to produce the best wine Sonoma and Napa has to offer. Their Chardonnay grapes are sourced from the Durell Vineyard in Sonoma County. This premier vineyard is comprised entirely of old Wente selection shot clusters, exhibiting the classic hens and chicks pattern that defines this California heritage selection. In the glass, the 2010 Durell Vineyard Chardonnay is a classic buttery California Chardonnay that is remarkably balanced with a luxurious mouthfeel. Their Cabernet Sauvignon grapes are sourced from the Young Inglewood Vineyard in Napa Valley, another leading vineyard that produces Bordeaux varietals with exceptional density of flavors. The 2009 Cuvee Rothchild Cabernet Sauvignon has a dense purple black color with great richness, depth and complexity. Both wines have consistently scored points in the mid-nineties by Wine Enthusiast magazine and are definitely gaining the attention of serious collectors.
