Open daily 10am-4:30pm
With its down to earth vibe meets hipster chic décor – plus a lineup of brilliant Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Syrah and a Rosé with a cult following – it’s no wonder the eclectic Red Car Wine tasting room in Sebastopol is making top lists around the country. Sonoma Magazine recently named Red Car one of the five “hot wineries” across Sonoma, Napa and Mendocino, and Wine & Spirits magazine named it one of the world’s top 100 wineries in 2017.
When you enter the tasting room, you immediately see why Red Car Wine is receiving these accolades. The tasting room is inviting and comfortable, somehow familiar with its retro couches and vintage record player – perhaps reminiscent of your college days. But don’t let the laid-back atmosphere fool you, because behind the scenes the team at Red Car takes a sophisticated and serious approach
Founded in 1999 in Los Angeles by Mark Estrin, a wine professional and screenwriter, along with Carroll Kemp and Richard Crowell – wine lovers – the trio produced their first Syrah in 2000. But it wasn’t until 2004 that they purchased their own estate vineyards on the Sonoma Coast. From selecting the perfect Sonoma Coast vineyard locations to tending the land naturally and with passion, these wines are pure expressions of their sites. And when it comes to winemaking, a blend of traditional and modern techniques finds an excellent balance that results in complex wines with character and finesse.
The attention to detail and sincere passion of Red Car Wine shines in their highly sought-after, small-production collection of seductive wines that are sure to please for years to come.
