Winding through the eastern hills of the Napa Valley one would be forgiven for believing it impossible for a winery to be in such a remote setting. While snaking through the back roads, a sense of anticipation builds. Something wonderful must be around the next turn. Indeed it is.

Upon arrival, you will feel as though you just stepped into a faraway land. The outdoor ambiance is a blend of Old World Europe and California’s Hispanic influenced history. Once inside, visitors are greeted with a feast for the eyes in every corner. Massive one-of-a-kind lighting fixtures fashioned from gnarled tree limbs illuminate classic mission-style furnishings.

The gracious staff of Kuleto Estate will start you off with a “walking splash” of their refreshingly approachable Rosato, a dry rosé. You will then head out for a tour of the grounds of this magnificent estate, passing by the “Amalfi” patio that overlooks the picturesque landscape, complete with rolling vineyards and an awe-inspiring view of the valley below. Standing at the point overlooking Lake Hennessey, one will gaze on a vista that is unparalleled in scope.

The estate tour is followed by a leisurely tasting on the outdoor terrace. Your guide will pour a variety of ultra-premium wines while you enjoy panoramic views of this incredible mountaintop estate.

Good to know

• Gravity flow winery allows gentle handling of lots as small as one-half ton.
• The winery is 1250 feet above the valley floor with sweeping views of Lake Hennessey and the vineyards of the Napa Valley.
• Their most unique wine is the Moscato which is fermented dry (i.e. almost no residual sugar), making it one of the few Moscatos that is not a dessert wine. This wine is the ideal pairing for oysters!
