Chamisal Vineyards

An environmental leader paving the way into the 21st century
Sustainably produced Chardonnay and Pinot Noir straight from the source

Imagine one of many perfect days on the Central Coast, sipping wine, surrounded by vineyards, mesmerized by the gently rolling Santa Lucia hills in the background.  You take that first sip, exhale, and think “this is what life is all about.” Chamisal was the first vineyard planted in the Edna Valley, in 1973. It has always been the objective to showcase the grapes and wine that can be grown in this cool-weather climate.  Primarily, Chamisal is a producer of fine Burgundian inspired wines, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.  However, there are micro-climates that are exceptional for showing off certain Rhone varietals such as Syrah and Grenache.
Chamisal has always made it a point to farm responsibly.  Through the years they have refined, improved and set the example for preserving and protecting the land-terroir. SIP* certified in the vineyards since 2010, in 2016 Chamisal also became the second ever winery in California to be awarded SIP certification. But, they don’t stop there. Sustainable practices are followed wherever possible, including composting, use of cover crops, drought-tolerant rootstock, moisture-sensors to reduce irrigation, solar panels, and a water-recapture system reclaiming 100% of winery processed water for irrigation needs.*Sustainability in Practice, www.sipcertified.org
