New Label for Classic Series Contemporizes Brand
and Strengthens Heritage of Robert Mondavi
Woodbridge by Robert Mondavi announced the creation of a new label for its Classic Series wines. The new label was designed in a way that will reconnect with today's wine consumer, while recognizing the rich heritage of the Woodbridge by Robert Mondavi brand. Designed by HKA Designs in San Francisco, the label has a fresher, more contemporized look and feel that reinforces the quality and craftsmanship of Woodbridge by Robert Mondavi wines.
"After three years, we recognized the need to create a more contemporary label that would not only appeal to today's wine consumer, but also strengthen our link back to being founded by Robert Mondavi," said Kevin Conner, Marketing Director for Woodbridge by Robert Mondavi. "The new label is bolder, cleaner and more inviting, yet it still maintains the quality and tradition of the brand that consumers have come to know and love."
A strong connection to Founder Robert Mondavi was an important factor in the design of the new label. Founding Woodbridge Winery more than 25 years ago, Robert Mondavi was instrumental in making Woodbridge the first winery in the popular premium category to produce and vintage-date labeled varietals.  Although he has become a wine legend in the world today, Woodbridge was the place where Robert Mondavi pursued his dream of making delicious affordable wines that Americans could enjoy each night around the dinner table; a tradition that continues today.
To provide a greater recognition to Robert Mondavi, the new label features a more prominent display of the phrase 'by Robert Mondavi' and a return of the 'RM bullet' at the bottom of the label.
Other elements of the new label include: 
• Varietal colors in matte metallic print across the top of the label providing additional quality cues
• A larger and more pronounced 'Woodbridge' brand name
• More visible and welcoming vineyard scene
• Brighter traditional off-white color
• Easier to read varietals and place of origin
Initial feedback from sales, distributors, retail outlets and consumers has been overwhelmingly positive, with many agreeing that the new label better reflects the Woodbridge by Robert Mondavi brand.
