Wine Made for Wide-Spread Appeal
The two Swiss families that own Vina Robles have been in the winemaking business for 20 years and want their estate wines to reflect the unique appeal of Paso Robles wines.
Winemaker Kevin Willenborg makes his estate wines in small lots with minimal intervention. He blends traditional winemaking methods with modern technologies to produce creative blends. One of Vina Robles’ wines to look for is a new release, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon; it received 91 points from Tasting Panel Magazine.
Other wines to look for in the Vina Robles tasting room include:
• 2017 Chardonnay from Mistral Vineyard, Monterey. Described as having a rich finish with hints of lemon, golden apple and caramel. Perfect with white Stilton cheese and an apricot crostini.
• 2017 Rosé from Huerhuero Vineyard. Described as having rich plum and red cherry flavors and hints of honey. Can be paired with prosciutto and pistachio flavored items.
• 2015 Zinfandel from Huerhuero Vineyards. Having a juicy finish with hints of black pepper. Can be eaten with cranberry pork sausage to highlight the flavors.
• 2015 Syrée with a creamy texture and dark cherry, raspberry and plum flavors. Perfect with smoked prime rib.
