Rutherford Ranch Napa Valley
Toast and Taste – A Holiday Party
Start the holidays off with an afternoon of wine, food and art at Rutherford Ranch Winery’s Holiday Party on Saturday December 2, from 10:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. The family-owned winery nestled among majestic oak trees and a 100-year-old olive grove will be full of holiday cheer and ready to help you shop for all the wine lovers on your list. A selection of wine specials along with pop-up shops featuring local artists and their wares such as a hand-blown glass, jewelry, European-style chocolates, wine country photography and more will take care of all of your gift-giving needs. Savor a pairing of four wines with four culinary creations while shopping, plus enjoy a special taste of their limited release Petite Sirah. Don’t miss the opportunity to delight in the 2016 vintage of this single-vineyard gem which continues Rutherford Ranch’s trend of crafting this otherwise big and bold varietal into a leaner, more elegant and refined beauty, with fruit-forward notes and subtle acidity taking the lead. Produced in micro-case quantities and only available for tasting at this event, this special wine makes it reason enough to secure your tickets for $45 per person. And as always, tickets are complimentary for club members and two guests. Five seatings available throughout the day. Purchase tickets on-line at rutherfordranch.com/events.
Celebrating 40th Harvest
The 2018 vintage marks forty years of winemaking for Rutherford Ranch and their team could not be more excited to continue to share their critically acclaimed collection of wines. From small-lot, vineyard-designate Cabernet Sauvignon and red blends to bright, fruit-forward whites and rosé, Senior Winemaker Jay Turnipseed, an alumni of the iconic Cabernet houses in the valley such as Mount Veeder Winery and Franciscan Estate, is truly honored to carry on the legacy of those before him. “Today, and as we have done for the past forty harvests, we are proud to be among a only handful of wineries who can offer top Rutherford Cabernet produced from an estate vineyard here on the historic Silverado Trail,” says Jay. Their portfolio of handcrafted, award-winning wines are grown in one of the most respected (and coveted) regions of Napa Valley- the historic Rutherford sub-appellation. Here, the vineyards benefit from a terroir similar to that of the Bordeaux region, which gives Jay and his team the ability to craft the finest expressions of new world Cabernet Sauvignon.
Commitment to Sustainability Continues
Ushering in their fifth year of certification as a California Certified Sustainable Winery, Rutherford Ranch continues to implement a variety of vineyard and winery practices rooted in non-invasive and organic methods in order to conserve energy and water, and to craft their ultra-premium wines in the gentlest way possible. From using cover crops in the vineyards to provide habitat for beneficial insects, to cultivating natural predation (birds and insects) which replace chemical herbicides and pesticides, the winemaking team takes these extra steps (and more) by always using the most sustainable solutions possible. Even the flower beds on the property have been mulched with sun-dried grape seeds from the previous year’s harvest. This is just one of many ways Rutherford Ranch beautifies their environment while preserving it for years to come.
