![]() Razi Winery Opens its New Tasting RoomAnyone who loves the grape would be happy to drive a long way to sample the deservedly famous Estate Chardonnay of Razi Winery, or the collection of the wines that they pour from other producers they are involved with. Altogether they offer a total of more than a dozen different wines with their regular tasting rotating throughout the week, so you will always have new opportunities to sample special premium wines.
Today, they might pour a Chardonnay, a delicious and fruit-filled Sangiovese, two types of Zinfandel, the rich and mouth-filling Syrah, a non-vintage (but exceptional nonetheless) Red Blend, plus a Proprietary Red, three Cabernet Sauvignons, a luscious dessert wine and wines from their Reserve List.
For years, Razi has been selling their famous Chardonnay grapes to some of the premier wineries in the Napa Valley, including the acclaimed Newton Vineyard, and in recent years they have also become a custom crush operation with a new state-of-the-art production facility.
"The Razi winery is focused on very small production, ultra-premium wines made from excellent quality grapes from Napa and Sonoma valleys," said winemaker Massimo Monticelli, a UC Davis graduate and a fourth generation winemaker. "We handcraft unique wines in lots as small as 50 cases. We also produce wines from Chardonnay and fruity Sangiovese all the way to bold Napa Super Cabernet and hope you taste our passion for wine in each style that we make."
To the delight of wine lovers they have also opened that new tasting room where you can sample the wines they are involved with. The new tasting room was built in late 2008 with a distinct sleek modern feel. It has a patio that is located near the winery itself, which all of Razi Vineyard's guests can use for lunch or for nothing more (or less) than simple relaxation. Indoors the handsome and comfortable tasting bar is no more than five feet from their estate vineyard.
As they say at the winery and in the tasting room, "This is a unique environment where one can become absorbed in wine and food pairings while receiving an education based on different appellations and terroirs. So please, come and enjoy!" Tastings are scheduled by appointment only Monday through Saturday (hours vary) at Razi Winery, located at 3108 Silverado Trail in the county of Napa.
