Opolo Zinfandel Festival Weekend
Just around the corner is the welcome sight of new grape leaves adorning the vines, the warming rays of a spring sun and one of the most celebrated eOpolovents of the year, Vintage Paso: Zinfandel Weekend.
The annual celebration of Paso’s heritage variety, Vintage Paso: Zinfandel Weekend is scheduled for March 15-17. If you’re a long-time fan of the Central Coast wine region, this is your chance to savor all of your favorites. If you’ve yet to discover the luscious wines and stunning vistas of the area, there’s no better means of doing so than during this weekend celebrating Zinfandel.
A perfect place to enjoy this signature event is to visit Opolo Vineyards. A featured event this weekend, is the Opolo Zinfandel Festival Winemaker’s Dinner on Friday, March 15th, featuring a splendid menu to delight the senses and paired with Opolo’s sumptuous wines. Featuring an impressive menu by local favorite, Trumpet Vine Catering, this winemaker’s dinner will have you feasting on Wild Mushroom Toast with soft egg, herb ricotta and a green goddess vinaigrette, courtesy of Back Porch Baker, then you’ll savor a Smokey Pork Pasta with tomato, apple, mascarpone and pecorino. For the main course, you’ll be served an Angus Grilled Ribeye, with a red wine demi, herb salsa verde, Anson Mills polenta, grilled asparagus and blistered cherry tomatoes. Continuing the celebration on Saturday and Sunday, March 16th and 17th, Opolo will be pouring featured zinfandels and new releases, complete with barrel samples with the winemaking team. Enjoy the day on the patio for a freshly made fire-roasted pizza paired with a glass of Opolo wine. While at the vineyard, venture over to the far side of the barrel room for spirit tastings at Willow Creek Distillery. Opolo’s onsite distillery features handcrafted spirits made from the saignee from production of Opolo’s award winning wines. With spirits like Chamomile Liqueur, traditional Silovitz (plum brandy) and VS Brandy, you are sure to find a spirit that moves you. No reservations necessary for the Zinfandel Festival Weekend’s celebration, Opolo will be open for wine tasting from 10 a.m to 5 p.m, lunch from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and distillery tasting from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
