Five miles north of Hwy 46 (west of the 101 freeway), Opolo Vineyards rests among the hills and valleys. Enjoy wending your way up along Vineyard Drive, surrounded by vineyards, rolling hills, California Oaks, and farmland, until you arrive at Opolo. No matter what type of wine country experience you are looking for, you will find it at OPOLO. The grounds are spacious, the surrounding vineyards and hillsides bucolic, and the personnel warm and welcoming; come to relax, sip, eat or stay. And know this: After your first visit to Opolo, you will return.
Exiting your car, you may perceive a wisp of delectable, savory aromas emanating from the outdoor kitchen and pizza oven. And it may not just be pizza you are get a whiff of, it may very well be some of the home-made sausages being cooked up. But, whatever it is, your salivary glands will start to work overtime, and you will be ready to sip wine and, if you are the least bit hungry, enjoy your wine accompanied by a small (or large) bite. Whether you decide to have your tasting in the spacious, inviting tasting room, or outside on the patio, you will unconsciously exhale, relax, decompress and for a while at least, your mind and body will be in a totally stress-free environment; the last thing on your mind will be “civilization.” Let yourself enjoy this state of bliss.
Where to Begin Your Opolo Adventure
The Tasting Room: Start your visit in the tasting room! Step up to the tasting bar where you will be greeted by one of Opolo’s affable tasting hosts. Our host was Roger-friendly, humorous, knowledgeable and a great guide for your Opolo tasting adventure. Enjoy the classic tasting, which will include many of Opolo’s award winning wines. For an elevated tasting experience, reserve a wine and cheese pairing*, and for the ultimate Opolo tasting experience, book the Estate Tour & Tasting*, where you tour the property, through the vineyards, past the Inn at Opolo and up to “The Hilltop”, where you will enjoy incomparable views of the Willow Creek area. All while savoring a flight of Opolo wines accompanied by a cheese and charcuterie platter. (*Note: Reservations required. Estate tour is seasonal, April-October).
Time to eat! Hopefully you came hungry, or worked up an appetite, because you do NOT want to miss a fresh, healthy, tasty, homemade, home grown, home cooked experience at Opolo! Choose from several different types of artisan pizzas from Opolo’s wood burning pizza oven. Or, share a cheese and charcuterie platter. Also on the menu are two different type of sausage platters, each with accompaniments. And, we are NOT talking store bought, we are talking made on the premises sausages. YUM! And to accompany your meal, share one of the many salads, all the greens grown on premises.
The Distillery: If you are still up for adventure, and the spirit moves you, ask for a tasting in The Distillery! Recently put into operation, Opolo is now producing elite fruit brandy. Using traditional Balkan recipes, try one of the current offerings, like the Nocino, a walnut based liquor from Opolo’s own organically grown walnut trees.
The Ultimate Romantic Escape: Up on the hill, overlooking vineyards and rolling hills, with birds of prey circling in the sky, sits The Inn at Opolo. You will be hard pressed to find an escape that is more romantic, sensuous and luxurious, to make your wine country visit extraordinarily special. Spacious rooms, all with a view, comfortable beds, soaking tubs, fireplaces, made to order breakfast, afternoon wine and appetizers, and SO much more, the Inn is truly the penultimate romantic getaway: Book a night or two for a special birthday, anniversary, or….just because. Relax, unwind and surround yourself with a truly luxurious experience.
Visit Opolo-and then visit them again, because one visit is insufficient to experience all that Opolo has to offer. You will find that Opolo is a gift to the present.
