You can get a taste of history when you visit HammerSky Vineyards to try some of their estate grown hand-crafted wines. The winery is located on 50 acres in Paso Robles wine country with a 113 year old farmhouse as a focal point. While you sip some of the Bordeaux wines HammerSky specializes in, such as their award-winning Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, you can gaze at centuries old oaks, such as one particular favorite, Uncle Dan.
What Hammersky Has to Offer
One of the things that makes HammerSky special is its historic farmhouse. The picturesque farmhouse, which was built for a Mennonite pastor in 1904, is a popular relive for those looking for a comfortable vacation spot. With bright white walls and black shutters, it offers visitors a chance to relieve local history by getting to experience what Paso Robles was like a century ago, while enjoying modern day comforts, such as a Jacuzzi, gourmet kitchen and a Tesla charging station.
Tasting Room With a View
While the farmhouse provides a walk through history, the tasting room offers a modern experience. Completed in 2011, the tasting room is airy, with tall windows and glass doors to let in natural light, and it gives visitors a view of the winery. There is also an outdoor patio area for those wishing to sip their wine al fresco.
Some of HammerSky’s Unique Wines
Some noteworthy wines to look for in HammerSky’s tasting room include the 2013 Merlot, an estate wine with the taste of cranberry, red currant, hints of blueberry and raspberry, and the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon, an estate wine which is 95% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Merlot. It is described as containing the tastes of black cherry, black currant, cranberry with hints of menthol and vanilla.
Another wine to try is the 2014 Straight de Barrel, a red blend containing 33% Cabernet Sauvignon, 32% Merlot and 35% Petite Verdot. It is described as dense and rich, with the tastes of plum and black cherry, as well as a hint of currant, red raspberry and blueberry. The Straight de Barrel is a one of a kind experience. Visitors get to try a wine in its natural state, as though it had come right from the barrel. It is unrefined and unfiltered with the resulting wide range of flavors. The wine is served in a clear glass, allowing consumers the opportunity to see the sediment and lees that reside in each bottle.
HammerSky is located at 7725 Vineyard Drive in Paso Robles. The tasting room is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. It is closed on Wednesday.
