Discover the Heritage of Domaine Carneros
If any winery in California’s famed wine country represents pedigree, it’s Domaine Carneros. Founded in 1987 by Claude Taittinger, Domaine Carneros was built to honor the renowned Domaine Taittenger in France. The Taittingers are a French wine family who are famous producers of Champagne. Eileen Crane, known around the wine world as one of the most esteemed sparkling winemakers with 38 years of experience, leads all winemaking.

Served with potato chips, toast points and Cowgirl Creamery crème fraiche, this is a truly indulgent and delicious sensory experience.
A seated tasting outside with the view is divine, but don’t discount the view within the famed tasting salon. The atmosphere of this gorgeous room is like entering into another world and time. Even if you taste outside, don’t miss out on the extravagance inside.
Immerse yourself in Domaine Carneros with a tour! Explore behind-the-scenes to learn the magic of méthode traditionnelle (traditional method) for producing sparkling wine. This classic tour begins in the estate vineyard and continues with a tour of the winemaking, bottling, riddling/aging and disgorging areas of the château. Enjoy a tasting of classic sparkling wines along the way and a seated tasting of a red wine selection at the conclusion. The tours are held at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., last approximately an hour and a half long and the fee is $50.
Domaine Carneros makes fine sparkling wines by employing the traditional method from France. Sparkling wines are actually first still wines that undergo a secondary fermentation to create the carbon dioxide. In initial fermentation, yeast consumes the sugar present in the grape juice and converts it to alcohol and carbon dioxide, which then dissipates. During secondary fermentation however, sugar and yeast are added to bottled wine and the bottles are sealed. Once again, yeast consumes the sugar and converts it to alcohol and carbon dioxide, but this time the carbon dioxide is trapped, leaving the bubbles inside the wine.
Domaine Carneros crafts their wines from their own grapes grown in their estate vineyards. This ensures full control over the quality of the fruit and the ultimate finished wine. But don’t take our word for it, experience Domaine Carneros for yourself!
