Clos du Bois Winery has called Alexander Valley home for over 40 years. With the winery’s first vintage in 1974, Clos du Bois began with a vision of blending fine French winemaking techniques with the best Sonoma grapes to craft a range of balanced, approachable wines. Year after year, their wines have been appreciated by both wine critics and wine lovers alike.
Clos du Bois Winery farms nearly 800 acres in the vibrantly diverse wine regions of Sonoma County and Coastal California, working closely with trusted local growers to build long-lasting relationships. By sharing decades of boutique winemaking knowledge, technology and resources with each of these growers, Clos du Bois is able to ensure the integrity and effortless sophistication of every wine they create.
Clos du Bois Winery is also dedicated to keeping the planet in mind. They are especially proud of their solar initiative, which utilizes more than 4,000 solar panels to power the winery almost 100%, the equivalent of providing electricity to 164 homes a year. They are water-conscious too. One acre of their almost 800 vineyard acres uses less water per year than a typical family of four.
Clos du Bois Winery believes that creating a healthy ecosystem in the vineyard is critical for the vines to thrive. They pulled out some vineyards along the Russian River and planted native trees and shrubs along the banks to promote healthier fish habitats. They also restored a wetlands area at the winery to create a healthy environment for migrating birds and other creatures.
