Ca’ Momi Osteria
Trust Me On This, Just Go There
OK – I’m just going to cut to the chase here – if you are anywhere near Napa and you like food, you simply must go to this restaurant! The ambience, service, wine/beer/cocktail list and food are off the charts amazing. Really.
I can’t wait to tell you more…
Obsessively Authentic Italian Food
Ca’ Momi Osteria’s motto is “Obsessively Authentic Italian Food,” and I gotta tell you, the food there is like no Italian food I’ve ever had. Yes, they have the requisite pizza (but the crust may be fried, OMG!) and pasta dishes, but every dish my dining partner and I had was unique and absolutely bursting with flavor. We really enjoyed a few dishes we had never before heard of and both of us are total foodies and wine judges. We loved everything we tried, including the Fried Sage, Burrata & Veggies, Insalata di Nervetti (salad of organic beef tendons – sounds kinda weird, but it was really delicious!), Rigatoni con coda alla vaccinara (rigatoni with melt-in-your-mouth braised oxtail), Fried Chicken, Grilled Octopus & Calamari Sicilia (Best octopus I have EVER had!), Pizza Fritta (Fried pizza), and Millefoglie and Angioletti for dessert. My personal favorite dish was the Gnudi Toscana – tender, savory cloudlike mouthfuls of absolute deliciousness. Every dish was expertly paired with Ca’ Momi wines and they were all fabulous as well.
Ca’ Momi Osteria is located in an upscale, artsy section of downtown Napa and it fits right in with its chic, neighboring businesses. The main room of the restaurant is large, warm, airy and full of character, with open ceilings, an antique brick wall, dyed cement floors and cool, dropped lighting. One wall serves as a projection screen for classic Italian movies in the front part of the restaurant. Just past the projection screen, a long, fully stocked bar spans the mid section and the back section of the restaurant features the ever-aromatic open kitchen.
Passionate, Spot-On Service
Because we were unfamiliar with some of the dishes, we asked our server to bring us his favorite dishes and I’m glad we did – his suggestions and wine pairings were spot on. He was friendly, knowledgeable and efficient and knew the history of the restaurant and its dishes. He made a great dining experience extraordinary. Just take my advice on this one – go there and try a few dishes and wines that your server recommends. Tell them, “The Wine Wench sent me!”
