Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah

Bennett Lane Winery is a gem in the newly created Calistoga AVA. The patio has just been re-landscaped and includes the planting of three magnificent and mature olive trees that frame views of the vineyards surrounding the winery and tasting room on every side.

They also have planted what they refer to as their “Petting Vineyard,” where, when they become seasonally available, one can taste grapes and learn about the varieties, about how they differ and are dealt with throughout the year.

It was in their travels to Italy that winery founders Randy and Lisa Lynch began an enthusiastic love affair with fine wine. To pursue their passion they found a spot at the northern end of the Napa Valley known as the “Pinnacle of the Valley.” It is the place where the Vaca Mountains meet up with the Mayacamas.

The grounds are impeccable and you are welcome to come here and relax and enjoy the wines. A visitor to Bennett Lane affords tasters another rarity: a likely meeting – and perhaps a barrel tasting if you are lucky – with the owners or a personal tour of the winery with one of the knowledgeable, fun and friendly tasting room staff.

The staff is always happy to lead guests through the vineyard and cellar to give you an up-close peek at the world of winemaking at Bennett Lane Winery.  Then come to the tasting room for an incredible flight of four award-winning Napa Valley wines for $10 per person.

The Bennett Lane wine named Maximus, after the Roman Emperor was their first bottling. In addition, their wines include Los Carneros Reserve Chardonnay a white Maximus and the Napa Valley Cabernet. You can sample these wines in their stylish tasting room, a combination of Country French and California, with doors leading to the patio and lawn. It is the perfect spot to sample their wines for the first time, or to mingle with people who have been their since the beginning. Since those earliest days, the plantings outside have matured, the roster of wines has grown, but that essential mission, to make the best wines possible, and in their own style, has endured.
